SharePoint 2013 Certification Overview

The SharePoint certification process has a number of changes from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013. In particular, the previous Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) and Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) certifications have been replaced by the Microsoft Solutions Expert (MCSE) and Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) certification certificate. In addition, the number of tests needed to get these certifications is increased. Figure changes in SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 is as follows:



Although the details of the changes in the Microsoft Partner skills were updated at the time of writing, the new MCSE and MCSD certifications necessary to keep SharePoint silver or gold Microsoft Partner cooperation and expertise of content in the future.

MCSE: SharePoint

The MCSE certification replaces the MCIPT certification, is aimed at an IT Pro audience and requires passing the following exams
SharePoint focused:
  • 70-331: Core Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013
  • 70-332: Advanced Solutions of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013
Non-SharePoint focused:
  • MCSA: Windows Server 2012 which requires either upgrading from Windows 2008 via 70-417: Upgrading Your Skills to MCSA Windows Server 2012 or: 
    • 70-410: Installing and Configuring Windows Server 2012
    • 70-411: Administering Windows Server 2012
    • 70-412: Configuring Advanced Windows Server 2012 Services

MCSD: SharePoint Applications

The MCSD certification replaces the MCPD certification, is aimed at a developer audience and requires passing the following exams
SharePoint focused:
  • 70-488 (currently in development,)
  • 70-489 (currently in development,)
Web development focused:
  • 70-480: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3
  • Exam TBA
If you are interested in attaining the MCSD certification I’d suggest doing the following:
  1. Registering for the 70-480 exam now as it is free until March 2013 using code HTML JMP as mentioned on the Microsoft Virtual Academy blog

Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (MCSM): SharePoint
MCSM Certification certification replaces the Microsoft Certified Master (MCM) and is a level higher than the MCSD and MCSE certification (in fact both are eligible for certification MCSM). Unlike the previous program MCM requires several weeks of training in Redmond, the program is mostly given remote MCSM. The next phase of public access courses scheduled for March and June 2013 needed Redmond week, with the rest of the course remotely delivered through the web.

MCSE SharePoint
